In the latest edition of the NATURE Index, which assesses the strengths of international research institutions and universities worldwide on the basis of their contributions to 82 journals in the natural sciences, LMU is ranked 65th among the universities listed. LMU thus defends its leading position among Germany’s universities, and is placed 7th among its counterparts in Europe, as in last year’s index.

With the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the ETH Zürich, the top three among the European contenders is unchanged, as is the overall ranking of the universities represented, which is once again led by Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
