By admitting her to the circle of ELLIS Fellows, the European network honors leading scientists who stand out for their outstanding contributions to research in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as for their commitment to strengthening the European AI landscape.
“I am very pleased to have been selected as an ELLIS Fellow. I see this as recognition of my work to date on the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence and, at the same time, as encouragement to continue advancing my research on trustworthy, reliable, and energy-efficient AI systems,” said Kutyniok.
The LMU professor conducts research at the intersection of mathematics and artificial intelligence. Her work focuses on the mathematical foundations of modern AI methods as well as their robustness, efficiency, and practical applicability, for example in medicine and robotics.
The fellowship entails closer integration into the European ELLIS network, particularly through scientific exchange, international collaborations, and participation in its further development. The selection also underscores the visibility of AI research at LMU in the European context.
