Frauke Kreuter becomes AAAS Fellow

Each year, the association honors researchers whose “contributions to the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially outstanding” with this internationally renowned award.

Frauke Kreuter, professor of statistics and data science in the social sciences and humanities at LMU, is being honored by the AAAS for her contributions to survey methodology, data metrics, and standards that improve the quality of official statistics. Kreuter's research interests lie in data science in the social sciences and in the areas of data quality, data protection, and data infrastructure. She heads the Social Data Science and AI Lab (SoDa) at LMU and is a faculty member in the Joint Program in Survey Methodology at the University of Maryland (USA).

The AAAS, of which Kreuter is now a Fellow, was founded in 1848 and has members in more than 91 countries. The association's goal is to advance science, engineering, and innovation worldwide for the benefit of society. Its annual Fellow Forum is usually held in Washington, D.C., in the spring or early summer.
