LMU again best placed German university

In the ARWU Ranking 2021, LMU takes the 48th slot, and is listed among the world's top 50 universities in this ranking.
In the „Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021“ issued by the Shanghai Ranking-Consultancy, LMU improved its position by three places compared to the previous year - and confirms its standing as Germany’s best placed university.
The leading group is made up of Harvard, Stanford und University of Cambridge.
The research-oriented ranking is based primarily on the evaluation of publications and citations in the Web of Science as well as the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals.
