Collaboration Opportunities with Industry

Many companies are actively looking for academic collaboration partners on specific research topics – ranging from early-stage basic research to application-oriented projects. Here you will find a current selection of calls from industry that you, as an LMU researcher, can apply to independently.

Platforms for industry collaborations and latest calls for applications

• Inpart: An international matchmaking platform that connects academic research with suitable industry partners. Companies post so-called "Campaigns" there – specific requests for research topics, technologies, or expertise they are looking for. As a researcher, you can apply directly to relevant calls and build new connections with R&D teams worldwide.
• HALO Science: A partnering platform through which companies address specific requests to the scientific community – such as requests for research projects (Request for Proposals), expertise (Request for Expert(ise)), or materials (Request for Material). Applications are usually submitted via a short, straightforward form and can typically be completed within an hour.
• Call for proposals: Funding for knowledge transfer from universities to SMEs in STEP: To become more independent in key technologies of the future, the European Union launched the "Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform" (STEP) and mobilised additional funds, including from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). Bavaria, as a high-tech location, benefits from this. A new second call under Bavaria's ESF+ programme for submitting project pre-proposals for knowledge transfer from universities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in STEP launched on 3 August 2026. €9 million in ESF+ funds are available for this call. Application deadline: 31 October 2026.
