Research funding for scholars and scientists

We advise on the requirements of third-party-funded research projects, and the factors that favor success. As well as supporting LMU researchers who are planning individual or joint projects, we provide advice for external researchers who intend to carry out, or participate in projects at LMU.

Our services

Information

We have assembled detailed information on funding programs administered by national and international institutions in our Funding Database Pivot-RP (restricted access), which is available to LMU researchers. We also hold information sessions on grant acquisition, ranging from large gatherings to workshops focused on specific themes, which allow for wide-ranging discussion of individual cases. Events specifically designed for early-career researchers focus on the spectrum of career opportunities available in different subject areas.

Some of these events and services are also open to researchers at institutions other than LMU.

Advice and guidance

Our integrated array of advisory services covers national, European and other international funding agencies and programs that cater for projects that differ in size and format. In close consultation with the applicant concerned, we explain the goals of each program and the reviewing criteria employed. We assess both the suitability of your project for specific programs and its chances of success. Finally, we analyze the thematic and structural thrust of your project, and offer advice on its financial aspects.

Are you planning to visit LMU for consultations on a collaborative project? If so, you too may make use of our advisory services. In that case, please ask your partner at LMU to send us a note confirming your collaboration.

Training

Our training courses in grant writing offer researchers goal-oriented assistance in formulating applications for funding. These sessions enable trainees to acquire (and consolidate) the know-how required to optimally address central aspects of grant writing, which maximizes the chances of success. Specific problems can be discussed and solutions explored within small groups, with input from our experts..

LMU researchers can access detailed (and password-protected) descriptions of our Services, contact details and all relevant forms via the Service Portal.
