Pre-departure

In order to be able to successfully complete your stay at the LMU, we have put together tips for your final steps.

At the end of your studies at LMU, you will receive a Transcript of Records listing all the courses you attended including grades and ECTS credit points. The transcript will not be sent automatically! You are responsible for generating your own transcript (PDF, 223 KB). Please find further instructions in LSF.

Not all courses are graded. If you need to have a grade in order to receive credit from your home university, speak with your lecturers early in the semester to see if it will be possible to get a numerical grade for the course.

Please note that transcripts with German course descriptions cannot be translated by the International Office!

At the end of your exchange semester, i.e. on 30.3. or 30.9., you will be automatically exmatriculated from the LMU. If you need a de-registration certificate earlier, you can apply for exmatriculation yourself. This is especially important for the termination of your health insurance.
You can find further information in the ABC Study Guide.

You also have to deregister your accommodation with the city. Unfortunately, this service is only available online in German. We recommend that you ask your Buddy for help.

Please make sure to organize your move-out and key return with Munich Student Union in time. The room deposit will be reimbursed three till five months after your move-out. You will receive further information from the Housing team in an email.

Many exchange students require a Certificate of Attendance or Departure at the end of their stay (it's obligatory for Erasmus+ students). Please check if your home university provides a form for this purpose! The Certificate of Stay can be issued no earlier than 10 days before the departure date, and only two till three weeks after the semester ends. If you are staying longer for academic reasons, the International Office needs an email from your department or lecturer with your end date and reason for your extended stay.
