Semester ticket

As part of their registration or continuation of registration, all students registered at LMU Munich are charged the basic fee as well as the additional fee for the semester ticket (amount of the additional fee).

Registered students receive the LMUcard with the MVV-logo as their Student ID Card. It is valid together with an official photo ID for the duration of the respective semester and serves as their ticket for all means of public transportation (2nd class) throughout the entire MVV transportation network between Mondays and Fridays from 6 p.m. overnight until 6 a.m. the following morning (including all nightlines) as well as with no time restrictions on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Please note that this does not apply to visiting students nor to visiting students in the study program for senior citizens.

At all MVV ticket purchasing venues, students may also purchase an "IsarCard Semester" ticket which is valid for the duration of the entire semester. This ticket together with the current student ID card and an official photo ID permits the students to take any number of rides on all means of approved public transportation (2nd class) throughout the entire MVV network. Please note that this does not apply to visiting students nor to visiting students in the study program for senior citizens.

For further information, please refer to the websites of the Studentenwerk München and the MVV. As far as the semester ticket is concerned, please note that as your point of contact the Office of the University Registrar at LMU Munich is only responsible for questions and problems concerning the charge of the additional fee. For all other concerns regarding the semester ticket, please get in touch with the relevant points of contact and service offices directly at the MVV or the Studentenwerk München.
