Throughout the events planned from October 5th to 8th, the newest cohort will be introduced to the network and research at LMU Munich and its collaborating institutions, forming MCN-LMU, as well as to GSN regulations and resources within the graduate school and the Munich universities. Several activities, such as Speed Networking, Mentoring Kick-off, and a campus tour will round up the program and help the newcomers get to know each other.
Collaborative Presentations - a concept meant to bring the latest and current students together during Orientation Week - stands at the heart of the event. Teams are formed around similar research topics, aligned with the GSN research areas. The 20 min. presentations are given as "tandem talks” where a more experienced PhD student and a few new students team up to present the project of the current student. The collaborative talks contain a 10-minute introduction by the new students’ team and a 10-minute flash-talk by the more experienced student presenting the research results.
The students from the integrated MSc Neurosciences and FT preparatory year will take part in the MSc & FT Spotlight break-out session, where they introduce themselves and their previous work.
