GSN-LMU at FENS 2026: Connecting Neuroscience in Germany

For the first time at FENS, several major German neuroscience networks and institutions came together at a shared booth to showcase the breadth and diversity of neuroscience research, training, and career opportunities in Germany. The initiative brought together the German Graduate Schools of Neuroscience, Neurocenters in Germany, the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience, and the Max Planck Society.

The shared presence provided an excellent opportunity for GSN-LMU to connect with the international neuroscience community, introduce our graduate training environment, and exchange ideas with researchers, students, and colleagues from around the world. Throughout the Forum, the booth welcomed numerous visitors interested in neuroscience research, education, training opportunities, and collaborations in Germany.

With more than 8,000 participants, FENS 2026 was the largest FENS Forum to date, creating an inspiring setting for scientific exchange and international networking. The strong interest in the “Neuroscience in Germany” initiative highlighted the value of bringing together the diverse neuroscience community in Germany and presenting its opportunities to an international audience.
