The GSN-LMU conferred its most recent honorary doctorate to neuroscientist Prof. Matteo Carandini on June 12, 2026, at the Munich Brain Day.

On June 12, 2026, the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences (GSN-LMU) awarded an honorary doctorate to Prof. Matteo Carandini (UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences) in recognition of his groundbreaking contributions to understanding neuronal processing in the neocortex and his role in advancing electrophysiological methods and international research collaboration.
The certificate was presented during the 2026 Munich Brain Day, following a laudatio by LMU Vice-President and GSN Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Benedikt Grothe. Carandini subsequently delivered a keynote lecture titled The Odds of a Decision, sharing insights from his Cortexlab research.
