On July 10 and 11, 2025, META-REP held its first workshop for early-career researchers (ECRs) on Good Scientific Practice, conducted by Christian Schmitt-Engel from the Graduiertenzentrum of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. The two-day workshop introduced participants to key principles of responsible research, including definitions of good scientific practice, scientific misconduct and its legal implications, proper documentation, authorship, referencing, citation standards, and good supervision. The event provided an important opportunity for META-REP doctoral researchers - whose participation was mandatory - as well as other interested early-career researchers and principal investigators to deepen their understanding of research integrity and discuss best practices across projects. Travel and accommodation were organized and reimbursed under META-REP’s standard conditions.
On 14-16 October 2025, the community of the DFG priority program META-REP met at the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing (Tutzing) for the official kick-off of the second funding phase. We were delighted to reconnect with participants from the first funding phase and to welcome new colleagues joining the program for the second phase. The meeting offered a valuable opportunity not only to present and discuss progress within individual projects, but also to generate, foster, and explore new lines of research across the program.
In a series of plenary discussions, project presentations, and working sessions, participants developed a shared perspective on the overarching goals and research priorities for the coming years. The inspiring atmosphere at the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing fostered lively exchange, collegiality, and renewed commitment to META-REP’s collaborative mission.
With this successful meeting, the second funding phase of META-REP has begun with strong momentum and a clear sense of direction for the work ahead.
Die Sozial-, Verhaltens-, Lebens- und Kognitionswissenschaften sind seit einiger Zeit mit dem Problem konfrontiert, dass wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse häufig wenig robust und wiederholbar sind. Die Auswirkungen von Unsicherheit und Wiederholbarkeit von Forschungsergebnissen auf Fragen der Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft und Öffentlichkeit werden Hauptgegenstand der Diskussion sein: Wie robust können wissenschaftliche Befunde unter den aktuellen Voraussetzungen sein? Wie verlässlich müssen oder sollen Ergebnisse sein, um sie öffentlich zu kommunizieren und gegebenenfalls zum Anlass für gesellschaftliche oder politische Maßnahmen zu machen? Diskutieren werden Vertreterinnen und Vertreter der Wissenschaft, der Forschungsförderung (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) und der Medien (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
Die Veranstaltung ist öffentlich und richtet sich an Interessierte mit und ohne wissenschaftlichen Hintergrund. Veranstalter sind das junge Kolleg der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und das von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft geförderte Schwerpunktprogramm „META-REP“.
