All you need to know about CMS Fiona and the transition to the new WCMS FirstSpirit

Since 2021, LMU has been using Crownpeak's WCMS FirstSpirit, which has replaced CMS Fiona.
Therefore, it is no longer possible to create new websites in Fiona. Existing websites in Fiona may be temporarily updated until the web editors migrate them to the new WCMS FirstSpirit.

Content is organized by topic rather than by organizational unit. This allows you to target specific audiences so that users can navigate the website quickly and as intuitively as possible.

The modern design makes content more appealing and optimizes content display on mobile devices. It also ensures that all content is accessible.
- Simplified for editors
You edit your website directly in the preview window. The 1:1 language switching feature makes it easier to maintain and update multilingual content. With data sources for contacts, images, news, and events, data is maintained centrally once and automatically displayed in various locations.
- Do I have to migrate to Firstspirit?
The operation and support of Fiona is being phased out and replaced by FirstSpirit. FirstSpirit also complies with LMU’s requirements regarding corporate design, legal requirements, security standards, and accessibility guidelines. All LMU departments are strongly encouraged to use the university’s central services.
- Can data from Fiona be imported into FirstSpirit?
A complete import of all content from a Fiona website is not technically possible and not sensible in terms of content.
Take this opportunity to evaluate and redesign your website using the new features offered by FirstSpirit! Nonetheless, some structured data such as contacts and, if applicable, news and events can be transferred to FirstSpirit in a partially automated manner, if absolutely necessary.

- Can only part of my website be migrated?
No. The entire website will go offline as soon as the new website in FirstSpirit is live. It is therefore important that you ensure all content that is still relevant is migrated to the new website.
