Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility at LMU Munich

Together with a number of selected partner universities worldwide, LMU Munich participates in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program (KA107). The program provides funding for guest lecturers and administrative staff at LMU and partner universities worldwide. Incoming students from selected Erasmus+ ICM partner universities can also benefit from the funding opportunities offered by this program.

Faculty Mobility with Teaching Assignment (STA)

  • Duration: 1 – 2 weeks
  • Teaching assignment: 8 hours per week
  • Eligible: Faculty employed by the partner institution

Faculty/Staff Mobility for Training (STT)

  • The teaching assignment for faculty can be waived if the main purpose of the stay at LMU Munich is to explore possibilities for further development of the cooperation between our institutions. A work program must be prepared for the application.
  • Duration: 1 – 2 weeks
  • Eligible: Faculty and administrative staff employed by the partner institution

Application procedure for staff from Erasmus+ ICM partner universities

  • Contact the faculty member or administrative unit you wish to work with at LMU to discuss the possibilities of a teaching or training assignment.
  • Once you have reached agreement with your LMU colleague as to the teaching assignment or work program and the dates of your visit, please complete the online form and inform Susanne Roessler about your planned visit.
  • Contact your home institution's International Office for further instructions.

Documents to be submitted before embarking on the planned assignment

  • Erasmus+ Mobility Agreement (signed by you and a representative of your university)
  • Erasmus+ Grant Agreement (signed by you and the International Office of LMU)

Documents to be submitted after completion of the assignment

  • Confirmation of the mobility period (signed by your academic host at LMU)

  • Travel grant: 1,500 euros
  • Living expenses: 160 euros
    (max. duration: 7 days)
  • Program duration until: 31 July 2021

Faculty/Staff from Ethiopia

  • Travel grant: 820 euros
  • Living expenses: 160 euros/day for the first two weeks, then 112 euros/day

Funding opportunities and application procedure for students from partner universities

Students from selected partner universities in Ethiopia, Israel, Thailand, and the Russian Federation can apply for an Erasmus+ ICM scholarship for the duration of their student exchange at LMU Munich. The mobility period for studies can last from 3 to 12 months. The mobility period for a traineeship (only Ethiopia) can last from 2 to 12 months.

Students from Erasmus+ ICM partner institutions should apply through the international office of their home university.

  • Monthly rate for students: 850 euros
  • Travel allowance: Ethiopia. 820 euros, Israel: 360 euros, Thailand: 1,500 euros, Russian Federation: 275 euros

Student mobility

Funding for student mobility is exclusively intended to support and encourage students from partner universities to make working visits to LMU Munich, while making more exchange slots available to registered students of LMU Munich.

Since the start of the program in 2015 more than 165 students from our Erasmus+ ICM partner institutions have been awarded Erasmus+ ICM scholarships for their semester or year abroad at LMU Munich.

Staff mobility

Staff mobility, both incoming and outgoing, strengthens existing research links and helps to identify and establish new areas of cooperation. Faculty may also support the development of student exchange.

Since the start of the program in 2015, more than 215 staff members from LMU and from our ICM partner institutions have participated in a Erasmus+ ICM staff mobility.
