Project description

In our tumor-neurobiology lab at the department of General, Visceral- und Transplantation-surgery we are interested on the aspect of the autonomous nervous system on several gastrointestinal and mesenchymal solid tumor entities in vitro and in vivo. In this particular project we aim to investigate the influence of the sympathetic and parasysmpathetic nervous system in pancreatic cancer metastasis and possible mechanisms in metastatic organotropism. Thereby we investigate effects on epithelial-to mesenchymal transition, invasion and migration applying 2D and 3D (co-)culture techniques. Using these state of the art methods the role of the autonomous nervous system on interactions of cancer cells within the tumor-microenvironment and on dissemination and metastasis formation will be investigated.

If you are interested in working within a group of highly motivated scientists to translate basic science principles to improve care and treatment of pancreatic cancer patients, we look forward to your application.
