Support for the Sophos Antivirus solution will end on 20.07.2023 when the existing framework agreement expires. The client has already been uninstalled on business devices with automated software distribution and replaced by a successor solution. For systems that are not managed by the LRZ or an IT service group (e.g. private devices), the Sophos client must be uninstalled by the users themselves. The LRZ has provided corresponding instructions for Windows and Mac. In future, Windows Defender from Microsoft, which is already included in the operating system, can be used for Windows client systems. For Apple systems, the XProtect included in the operating system is also recommended.

Affinity offers a powerful software suite in the field of illustration and image editing. LMU students and employees can use Affinity Suite V2 on private devices for official and student purposes at LMU free of charge.

You can view the licence key and download links in the LMU user account( LMU-Benutzerkonto Tile "Affinity Campuslizenz").

In cooperation with the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, the LMU regularly checks whether passwords appear in lists of leaked passwords and informs the affected users. If you have received a corresponding mail, please change your password immediately in the LMU-Benutzerkonto.

In the future, LMU will participate in the DFN framework agreement for the use of Zoom at universities and colleges in Germany. With the associated change to the EU cluster, maintenance work must be carried out at Zoom and Telekom. Therefore Zoom will not be available in the following period: Saturday, 03/18/2023, 01:00 - 05:00 (expected 4 hours). Meetings that have already been started will be interrupted and no meetings can be opened. Login to Zoom account or Zoom client via Single Sign-On (SSO) will not be possible during maintenance. Important information regarding changes to telephone dial-in. With the move to the EU cluster, the phone dial-in numbers for all meetings are changing. Please note that the new telephone dial-in numbers will not be displayed in the respective meeting information until 20/03/2023. If phone dial-in is relevant to your scheduled meetings, there are two options:

  • Recommend for scheduled meetings that only occur once: You inform the participants about the new phone number.
  • Recommendation for recurring meetings: You re-create the meeting and send all participants the new meeting link and phone number.
If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Thank you for your understanding!
