The Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) are among the world's leading institutions of academic medicine. Founded in 1472, the Faculty of Medicine at LMU has hosted multiple Nobel Prize laureates and researchers including Alois Alzheimer and Konrad Röntgen who have changed the trajectory of modern medicine.
The Summer School “Bench to Bedside and Back“ is dedicated to translational research. In an innovative, international setting, medical students from around the world gain numerous insights into research from different specialist fields and learn how research findings are incorporated into patient care. Medical expertise is also taught through Clinical Case Discussions and training sessions on Patient Safety.
In addition, there is a longitudinal module where "Clinician Scientist" competences are acquired and promoted. These range from Abstract Writing to preparing for scientific conferences and Academic Feedback.
The international network universities include Jimma University in Ethiopia, Université Paris-Saclay in France, Lund University in Sweden and Washington University in the US.
