First-year students’ welcome event 2026
Take part in the welcome event for first year students in LMU’s Lichthof (atrium) and begin your first winter semester in the company of your fellow students!
Welcome to LMU!
At LMU, the new semester starts with the “First-Year Welcome Event”.
On Monday, 12 October 2026, you can find out all about studying at LMU at our fair from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Starting at 4 p.m. LMU President Professor Matthias Tschöp and Bavarian Science Minister Markus Blume will be welcoming all first-semester students.
Then things will get personal with a panel discussion featuring, among others, LMU economist Prof. Monika Schnitzer, FLIX co-founder Daniel Krauss, Green Party politician Katharina Schulze, and LMU geoscientist Prof. Imke Hoppe. The panelists will talk about the realities of their early undergraduate days.
The faculties, the Student Council, and various professors will also introduce themselves. Good music and drinks will be provided.
The event will be interpreted into German Sign Language (DGS).
Please help us with the planning by registering here (non-binding).
