A Web Content Management System (WCMS) is a platform that allows website content to be created, edited, and published centrally. Texts, images, and videos can be managed easily – without the need for programming knowledge.
Since 2021, the WCMS FirstSpirit by Crownpeak has been in use at LMU. Various websites of faculties, departments, and project initiatives have already been implemented using FirstSpirit.
With the relaunch of www.lmu.de, we introduced the new content management system FirstSpirit. It offers:
LMU staff members can independently create and manage websites as editors. The service is available to all LMU employees after qualification.
The CMS is available to all LMU employees who wish to maintain or create a website for an institution, department, or project. Editors with the appropriate qualifications can access the system directly via the following link: https://lmu.de/wcms
Detailed instructions for logging in and for the initial login have been compiled under FirstSpirit Login.
Please note that most resources are currently only available on the Munich Academic Network (MWN). If necessary, please refer to the VPN access to the Munich Science Network page for information on how to set this up.
Those interested in a website can visit the information page FS Studio to get an idea of the system's design and find further general information: FS Studio (only accessible via the Munich Science Network)
Editors can find detailed how-to guides for WCMS and further information for creating a successful website in the WCMS Wiki: WCMS Wiki in Bayerncollab (Confluence activation may be required beforehand)

At LMU, the content management system Fiona has been replaced by the new web content management system FirstSpirit. All new websites are now created using this system.
All LMU units are eligible to migrate from the old CMS Fiona to FirstSpirit.
You can find an overview of the individual steps involved in the migration in our milestones (only accessible via MWN) section.
Please contact your unit’s project administration or coordination (only accessible via MWN) to discuss the specific implementation in your department.
Please first contact the project administrator or coordinator (only accessible via MWN) of your faculty. They will coordinate the process with you and involve Department VI.5 – Internet Services as needed.
General information on the website relaunch process can be found in our milestones overview (only accessible via MWN).
Detailed information about the FirstSpirit web content management system – including guides, practical examples, go-live processes, tools, and integrations – can be found on FS Studio website (only accessible via MWN).
