Entrepreneurship and transfer
Faster. More transparent. More founder-friendly. The one-stop shop for transfer & entrepreneurship.
Since 2026, LMU has consolidated all processes relevant to startups and technology transfer into a single organizational unit – from invention disclosure through patenting and incubation to startup consulting and spin-outs. Following the one-stop-shop principle, it is based within the office of the Vice President for Entrepreneurship, Dr. Philipp Baaske.
At the heart of this acceleration is the IP transfer agreement: nationwide, negotiating it takes an average of 18 months (EFI report 2026). At LMU, everything is now handled under one roof – three previously separate departments have been merged, and the hierarchy has been reduced from five levels to two. The result: 18 months become three – Germany's fastest technology transfer.
LMU is thus seen as a blueprint for other German universities: on June 23, 2026, the Bavarian Council of Ministers incorporated the three-month deadline as a binding standard period into the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG).
