Scholarships for International Internships

(Where) Can I book individual appointments to discuss my internship application?
At the moment, we unfortunately are unable to offer regular individual appointments. We expect this service to resume in the winter semester. In the meantime, please contact us by e-mail with your questions.

Are there fixed application deadlines?
No. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Your complete application must be submitted via MoveON at least four weeks prior the start of your internship. Before you can access the MoveON application, you should already have contacted us with any questions and submitted your basic information via e-mail, as only then will you receive the application link.

Do I need to have good grades to be eligible for a scholarship?
No. Your grade point average is generally not relevant in the selection process. We aim to make funding opportunities accessible to all students who require financial support. In the case of PROMOS, the transcript of records is requested solely to verify that you are actively enrolled as a student (this is also a DAAD requirement).

How much funding will I receive? Are travel costs covered?
The exact amount of funding for your destination can be found on our website under the corresponding scholarship programme (e.g. under Erasmus+ in the section "Scholarship amount by country"). For Erasmus+, the monthly grant ranges from €690 to €750, depending on your destination country. For PROMOS, the monthly grant ranges from €450 to €550.
In addition to the monthly grant, Erasmus+ also provides a travel allowance (please use the Distance Calculator to estimate your travel funding). Additional top-ups are available for Green Travel and Funding for the Support of Equal Opportunities. Further information can be found on our website.

Can I complete an internship if I am no longer enrolled?
Yes. Under Erasmus+, internships completed within 12 months after graduation are generally still eligible for funding. For detailed eligibility requirements, please refer to:

I am an international student and would like to complete my internship in Germany. Is the Career Service the right contact?
No. The Career Service is responsible only for outgoing internships, i.e. LMU students pursuing internships abroad. If you are planning an internship in Germany (incoming internship), please contact the International Office or the faculty at which you will complete your internship.

I cannot find my degree programme in MoveON because I study a very specialised subject. What should I do?
In most cases, your faculty can assist you. Please contact your programme coordinator or faculty first. If necessary, you may also select a broader subject area that most closely corresponds to your degree programme.

Should my application refer to the funding period or to the entire internship period?
Please refer only to the funding period in your application. Your internship may extend beyond the funded period; however, only the eligible funding period can be financially supported.
The maximum funding periods are:

• Erasmus+: up to 120 days
• PROMOS: up to 8 weeks (maximum 58 days)
• Career Service Scholarship: up to 59 days

When will the United Kingdom be eligible for Erasmus+ funding again?
Internships in the United Kingdom are expected to become eligible again under Erasmus+ 2027, which is currently expected to launch in June 2027.

Who is responsible for completing the Learning Agreement?
The Learning Agreement must be completed and signed by three parties:

• the student,
• the host organisation, and
• the Career Service.

If you have any questions, please consult our Learning Agreement Guide, which explains each section in detail. Please submit the Learning Agreement to us only after both you and your host organisation have completed the required sections.

What happens if my internship is shortened? Will I have to repay the scholarship?
This may possibly happen. It is essential that the minimum funding period is still met after any change. If the minimum duration is no longer fulfilled, the entire scholarship must be repaid, as the eligibility criteria are no longer met.

For PROMOS, changes to the internship duration do not affect the funding as long as the funded period remains between 53 and 58 days (the programme funds a maximum and minimum of eight weeks). For Erasmus+, funding is calculated on a daily basis. A shortened internship may therefore result in a reduced grant and, if applicable, a repayment request.

I will not be able to submit my final documents within the four-week deadline. Is this a problem?
If you expect a delay in submitting your final documents, please contact us by e-mail as soon as possible. Depending on your individual circumstances, we may be able to extend the submission deadline on a case-by-case basis

I have uploaded my final documents but have not yet received a response. What should I do?
Please allow up to two weeks for us to review and process your final documents. During this period, we kindly ask you to refrain from sending status inquiries.

I have received confirmation that my final documents have been approved, but the second Erasmus+ payment has not yet arrived. Who should I contact?
The second Erasmus+ installment may take up to two weeks to be transferred after you have received confirmation that your final documents have been approved. If you have not received the payment after this period, please contact us by e-mail.
