Art history encompasses a broad field of study, focusing on artistic, material, and visual media as well as works of architecture from the 6th to the 21st century. Traditionally centered on Europe, it has recently expanded to include global perspectives. In addition to classical areas such as architecture and urban planning, sculpture, painting, graphic art, and applied art, modern and contemporary periods also covers media like photography, film, digital art, street art, and boundary-crossing forms of installation, environment, and performance. It examines the history and present state of art institutions and their representatives. Art history reflects critically and historically on its own methods and approaches.

The subject of art education covers the diverse fields of art and art practice in our society. To this end, the degree programmes in art education combine art studies with design-practical and subject-didactic training, whereby the development of subject theory and the student's own artistic work are always interrelated. Accordingly, students acquire both scholarly-discursive skills as well as mediation competencies and design skills in various areas.

Music in all its forms is a fascinating subject of study. In our country, which is regarded worldwide as the quintessential land of 'classical' music, the exploration, teaching, and preservation of music and its history are an essential part of cultural identity. This is also reflected particularly in an unparalleled density of musical infrastructure, which in turn offers a wide range of career opportunities for graduates of music-related degree programs.

Music education understands music not only as an art form, but also as an important educational tool with psychological, social, and cultural effects. It explores and teaches both theoretical and practical aspects of music. The goal is not only to teach theory and practice, but also to use music as a transformative force for personal and social development. The main target groups are children and adolescents, but music also promotes social skills and emotional expression in special education.

Performances represent central events of social self-affirmation: in theater, dance, opera, and film, as well as in pop culture and politics, the grand appearance – the display of the body – is always about how a community presents itself. The understanding of stagings and perspective on how they are designed and how they impact are crucial not only for work in the performing arts but for all areas of culture. In theatre studies, we engage with the relationship between meaning and sensuality. We examine the aesthetic forms of diverse cultural performances and texts within their social, political, and historical contexts.
