Molecular & Developmental Neuroscience

How does a brain develop, and how can it be rebuilt when damaged? This area examines gene expression, signalling pathways, and the developmental processes that generate neurons and glia – and explores how these mechanisms can be harnessed for neuronal replacement and repair. GSN faculty uncover the molecular foundations of neural identity, plasticity, and connectivity, and investigate how insights from development can open new routes to regeneration – with implications for both basic science and neurological disease.
